So It Goes

Posted by at 18:09
"All persons, living and dead, are purely coincidental." - Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007), Timequake

"Death, the only immortal who treats us all alike, whose pity and whose peace and whose refuge are for all—the soiled and the pure, the rich and the poor, the loved and the unloved."- Mark Twain (1835-1910)

My suggestion right now is to go read, talk, walk, stare, or sleep. That's life, live it. Never take yourself seriously.

Cheaper than SDI Defense in Civilization 2

The Department of Homeland Security is creating a nuclear detection sensor ring around New York City.

You mean we are not doing this already? Alright, at least their doing it now.

Keeping NYC Nuke Free (Gothamist): New York law enforcement is working with the Dept. of Homeland Security to upgrade the city's nuke-detection equipment. The stated goal is to create a virtual 50-mile perimeter around New York City. The plan is to use advanced radiation-detection equipment in the harbor, at bridge and tunnel entrances, and in the subway system. A new generation of sensors will make it possible.

Anyway, you can figure out if you'll end up cooked regular, or extra crispy here.

Woo, Free Doctor Who!

Posted by in Entertainment at 23:28
This week is turning out well. Now all I need is for aliens to come to our planet, and give us tons of free stuff, because you know, thats what aliens do.

Noteworthy Television this Week: Baseball, Elephants, and Daleks, Oh My!

Doctor Who (Wednesday, 10:00 p.m., WLIW 21) If you haven't seen the 2005 revival of the classic British sci-fi series, this is your chance to start watching from the start and unlike the BBC America airing of the series this will be uninterrupted by commercials.

I want a telephone booth.

News: EMI, Apple holding joint announcement tomorrow:

EMI will reportedly hold a press event in London on Monday with Apple CEO Steve Jobs as a special guest. In an invite sent to select media today, EMI, which has released the Beatles records since 1962, said it was announcing an “exciting new digital offering” and that there will be a “special live performance” at the event by an unnamed artist or band. The event follows months of speculation that Apple’s iTunes Store…

Tomb Raider: Legend

Posted by in Commentary at 21:24

Ars Technica gives fairly favorable review of Tomb Raider: Legend. Unfortunately, to get all the graphics working well, you need a pretty high end system. I am not sure if anyone will buy this for the scenery though. It's all about the guns.

BLOGZOT 2.0 on MacZOT.com

Posted by in Personal at 13:10
Now, I have been interested in SubEthaEdit from CodingMonkeys for a while but the extent of my interest was not worth $35 dollars. Due to BLOGZOT 2.0 on MacZOT.com, I can certainly say, I am interested, thus with the blogging of the software. In BLOGZOT 2.0, MacZOT and TheCodingMonkeys will award $105,000 in Mac software to those who wish to get the software. In addition, every person who blogs about the software lowers the software's price. It's that simple. Overall, I hope I will enjoy the software, it will certainly help me in the future.

By the way, I am currently using NetNewsWire, Ecto, and Transmit, and I can recommend all of these. That said, I am still using the demo copies of the first two, so I may change my tune when I have to pay ~$40 for the privilege of using the software.
